Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our Be Kind to Animals Week Poster Competition. We received hundreds of entries from children in grades 1 – 6. We hope that the competition inspires an ongoing dialogue about animal welfare and the roles animals play in our lives.
Thank you also to all the teachers, parents and Scout leaders who encouraged participation. Selected Entries will be displayed in the Wilton and Rotterdam malls through May 7.

The winning entry will printed and displayed throughout the community to advertise the 2nd Annual Schenectady County SPCA Wags and Whiskers Family Fun Fair event to be held July 9, 2011 at Mabee Farm.

Be Kind to Animals Week An Art Exhibit for Kids Who Are Kind to Animals

EXHIBIT RULES
POSTER SIZE: Artwork MUST be 18” x 24” on white paper. Pictures should NOT be mounted. Smaller or larger sizes will not be considered for display. Paper this size can be found in most art supply stores. ART MEDIA: Crayon, pencil, water color, paint, markers, colored pencil. AGES: Children of Schenectady, Schoharie and Saratoga Counties enrolled in grades 1 – 6. THEME: Applicants are invited to draw a poster for the Schenectady County SPCA’s annual Wags and Whisker’s Family Fun Fair event. The poster should preferably include the following information: WHAT: Wags and Whiskers Family Fun Fair WHERE: Mabee Farm WHEN: 11am – 4pm July 9, 2011 *Schools with more than 20 entries are eligible to have the posters picked up. Please call prior to April 20th to arrange a pick-up. Teachers are welcome to call Windy Wyczawski at (518) 640-3537 for more information. CREDENTIALS: All entries MUST have a completed entry form taped to the BACK. Please use the form below and be sure to fill it out completely. Please TAPE the form to the back of your poster. Be Kind to Animals Week
Be Kind to Animals Week is the oldest celebrated week in the nation! Recognized officially by the 108th Congress in 1915, this special week serves as an important reminder of the roles animals play in our lives. The Schenectady County SPCA is holding this poster competition to heighten awareness about animal abuse in our community.
Art Exhibit Top entries will be displayed in the Wilton and Rotterdam Malls during Be Kind to Animals Week (May 1 – 7) courtesy of Macerich. The public will be invited to “vote” for their favorite entry for a $1 donation.
Awards and Recognition The winning entry will be printed and displayed throughout the community to advertise the Schenectady County SPCA Wags and Whisker’s Family Fun Fair event. The winner will also be invited to the Wags and Whiskers Family Fun Fair event as a guest of honor and will receive a prize from the poster competition’s title sponsor Tully Rinckey PLLC.
